Owner & Vice President
Forrest is a Charter Associate Member of Iowa Interpreters and Translators Association (IITA). IITA is an association of professional translators and interpreters in Iowa. This organization conducts education and training as well as promotes the advancement of the profession.
Forrest interprets, translates, and teaches Spanish for LTI. Also, he serves as an interpreter (non-certified) on Iowa's Roster of State Court Interpreters. Forrest actively participates in LTI’s Arabic, French, and Portuguese conversation groups and is a member of “Los Oradores”. Los Oradores was formed in 1989 as one of the first bilingual Spanish/English Toastmasters clubs in the U.S. You can find them here on Facebook.
Forrest was an agriculture extension Peace Corps volunteer (Costa Rica and Ecuador) in the early 1980’s. He grew up on a Century Farm in northeast Iowa and owns and manages two small farms near Decorah, Iowa. Forrest is a frequent traveler to foreign countries and remains an avid outdoorsman, backpacking and paddling in remote locations.
Our office staff includes 10 dedicated individuals who assist with email and phone inquiries, calendaring, invoicing, payroll, appointment reminder calls, and office and computer technology. Several also serve a dual role as interpreters with fluency in Russian, French and Spanish.
Many of our staff are experienced travelers and often test their own interpretation and communication skills in-country. They've visited or lived in Argentina, BVI, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands, Netherland Antilles, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Uruguay.
Meet some members of our staff:
Teague has worked for LTI since 2009 as an Account Manager and IT support in the office. He is studying at Des Moines Area Community College in the Information Technology & Network Administration program and would some day like to work for a large Des Moines based business as a System Admin.
Outside of LTI Teague enjoys riding his bicycle. Teague has done RAGBRAI five times with the Dream Team and was a volunteer junior mentor to new riders in addition to racing in local events. He is currently getting back into racing and will compete in events across the Midwest starting 2013.
While Teague has never traveled outside of the continental US, he has visited 30 states and enjoys the National Parks. In the future he plans on making trips to Mexico, South America, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and Australia with his spouse.
Sandy is a database marketer with over 20 years experience. She left corporate America in 2011 and softly landed at LTI. Sandy is a part-time staff member primarily assisting with database developments and website maintenance.
Volunteerism and outdoor programs are an important part of Sandy's life. She and her spouse donate their time to the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. They work with Friends of Neal Smith NWR participating in the Saturday Stewardship and Adopt-A-Trail volunteer programs. Whiterock Conservancy also receives a lot of Sandy's time. Both of these central Iowa places are great year-round spots to bring your family for outdoor fun.
Sandy and her spouse like to camp, hike, canoe, snorkel and SCUBA dive. They enjoy visits to national parks, wildlife refuges, and wilderness areas where Sandy pursues her passion in outdoor photography.
We have over 100 active interpreters who receive training and mentoring throughout their service with LTI. Several are also certified medical and/or court interpreters.
Our interpreters cover the following languages:
We are always looking for more interpreters with competencies in the above and additional languages (see our Employment Opportunities page if you wish to apply).
