Community Participation: Ways We Give Back to Central Iowa
LANGUAGEtech, Inc. and our staff firmly believe it is important to give back to the community we serve. And often when volunteering we find that we also have meaningful experiences and growth from the process.
Below are just a few examples of how we accomplish our giving within the Des Moines and central Iowa community.
Volunteer Physician Network (VPN)
In early 2009, LANGUAGEtech, Inc. was invited to participate with the Volunteer Physician Network (VPN) to provide interpreters for donated-services medical appointments. VPN is part of the Polk County Medical Society. Read more about VPN and the services they offer at http://www.volunteerphysicians.org/.
We provide interpreters to VPN on a volunteer, stipend volunteer, and reduced-rate basis. The value of those reduced-rate services in 2011 was over $11,000. We are continuing this level of service in 2012.
Also, in 2012, we contributed a $500 sponsorship of the VPN reception at historic Terrace Hill., Governor's Mansion.
Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs. The programs are child-focused and have the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families. LANGUAGEtech, Inc. agrees this is a valuable program within our community and we offer an across-the-board reduced rate for all of our Head Start interpretation appointments.

Child Guidance Center
From time to time LTI donates money for family emergency needs at the Child Guidance Center (CGC). This is a program to help youth with mental health and behavioral challenges. This program is through Orchard Place: http://www.orchardplace.org/
